Built for the rugged workday, The Operator Insulated Backpack is a purpose-built, thin-profile work bag designed for FIFO workers, tradies, and professionals who need hydration, storage, and mobility in one tough system. Engineered for harsh Australian conditions, it delivers hands-free functionality while maintaining three points of contact in and out of machines for improved safety and stability.
Designed with an integrated hydration system, the bag features large side pockets that accommodate a 2L bladder or 1100ml bottles, keeping you hydrated throughout long shifts. The insulated main compartment helps maintain temperature, while internal mesh pockets and a customisable clippable divider flap keep gear organised and separated.
For versatility, the Operator includes fold-away backpack straps that zip away when not in use, allowing seamless transition between backpack and carry modes. Air-mesh padded straps reduce heat and sweating for all-day comfort.
Built for worksite durability and organisation, this bag includes fully lockable zippers, rubberised base feet, reflective striping for visibility, and a front RefTex™ panel for branding or embroidery. Love my operator backpack.
However I do have a few ideas to share:
Need to store a hard hat on top with elastic strap, and extra handle for the front for convenience (when you don’t want to unfold the backpack straps). That’s just my personal opinion. But otherwise, LOVE MY BACKPACK!! 😍😍

Ridiculously awesome amount of compartments for storing certain things, can get a book in for those quiet times plus water bottle compartments are great size! Haven't used the bladder, but being able to remove it and utilise the pocket for other items is really useful.
My one, only low point is, when its full, it doesn't feel super ergonomically friendly on my back. I'm a small frame woman and as bag is shorter in height, all the weight is carried on shoulders and upper back. Don't have to carry it for to long so it's manageable bit something to consider for v2?! 🙂
Great bag, a touch smaller than thought.
So much room inside and thoughtful touches. I don’t find it comfortable to wear for longer periods when there’s any weight in though, it wouldn’t be included on a backpacking/hiking trip, but it’s a PERFECT bag for taking out on jobs
Finally found a bag that suits my needs. Carries the kitchen sink and all.
Nice and tough and keeps lunch cold with the 2 bricks. Has plenty of room for cutlery and keys wallet charger. Instead of backpack straps have a shoulder strap in the center of mass and make that storage area a tablet holder and it’s a 5 star. Still very happy with it overall.
I love my bag the space and pockets it has are amazing i am also an emergecy services team member and took it to training and it was very handy for me, only thing i wish was it was in purple i have had so many people comment on the bag and i give them the tour of the bag and they think rugged extremes should sponser me and i agree 😃

To be honest when my operators bag arrived I wasn’t sure it would be a good fit.

I’m in and out of trucks,water cart and grader
It has a place for everything such as my clip board, 1 ltr drink bottle, pens, lunch or snacks, glasses x2, and much more. I don’t have to hunt around for things because everything has its place. I love that it’s easy to put on my back for 3 point contact. I haven’t used the water bladder yet but in summer it’s an option and it’s removable for when I don’t need it. I’m very happy with my purchase
This is a really good crib bag. So many handy compartments and it’a well made from really good material.Only Criticism is one press stud at the front of the top shelf keeps on coming undone and the mobile phone falls through to the food area. Maybe use some Velcro instead? Other than that very happy with it and highly recommend buying.
Only problem with it, it does not like fire lol. left it on top of gas stove top and it tipped onto igniter, gas was partially on. End of the operator bag 😒
Just great, especially when moving around 2-3 machines a day, all you do is grab the ‘operator’ and move to the next machine. Just so simple and effortless.
